 My dear friends,

Idroscalo of Milan is practically on my doorstep. It is here that I started kayaking at a competitive level as a boy and here that I continue to practice during the little spare time that I have.
You can well imagine how much I love it; and I am very proud of all that has been accomplished here at this course in the last 11 years.
In fact, thanks to the Idroscalo Club; the contribution of the Provincial Administration, which owns the site; the Regional Administration; and the Municipality of Milan; along with several other sponsors that it was possible to hold the 1999 ICF Canoe 		Luciano Buonfiglio
Sprint World Championships, the 2001 and 2008 European Championships, a 2002 World Cup competition and the annual senior, junior and paracanoe Italian Championships here.
The spirit of this place leads those who live here to always search for new exciting experiences, and the Federation, over which I have the honour to preside, works with the skilful and reliable Idroscalo Club organising committee in giving life to the 2010 Canoe Polo World Championships, which are likely to be the most attended in the history of this spectacular and exciting canoe discipline.

With great enthusiasm, then, we welcome the most important biennial canoe polo event, to Idrascalo the same course where 77 years ago the Italian Canoe Sprint competition started.
We are sure that it will bring good luck for the coverage of this young discipline.

Dear Friends, Athletes,Technicians,Managers and Supporters

As Idroscalo Club President I welcome you in Milan!

Since 1977 I have been  organizing canoe racing events from the regional to the national and international level, both in the Idroscalo venue and others competition venues in Lombardy.

I have held various roles, including that of Manager, but I have mainly worked in the financial, creative and communication sectors, all these roles connect and help me achieve the optimal results.

In 2008 the Idroscalo Club organised the Canoe Sprint  European Championships, and in 2009, for the first time, we hosted the first International Canoe Polo Championship, the “Hexagonal Canoe Polo International 2009”, together with the “Championship of Italian A series”.

After these two events, I was even more convinced that the Idroscalo Club would be able to host the 2010 ICF Canoe Polo World Championships. Luciano Buonfiglio and his team at the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation showed us great confidence too.

As always the Province of Milan, which owns the basin, the Region of
Lombardy, the Milan City Council and the sponsors support us by making this organization possible, without them this would remain only a dream.

Here in Idroscalo, Canoe Polo has been practiced since the early 1980, and we are sure that this World Championships, in a dynamic and enterprising city like Milan, will bring together the best national teams of the world, thanks to the ICF.

Thanks to this the Canoe Polo movement of Milan, which is full of enthusiasm and desire to improve, will take an important step forward
So, I hope you will all enjoy the entertainment and this week of great sport here at Idroscalo.
